Scott, Please know that Julie and I, as well as New Life UPC in Hastings, NE is praying for your family through this time. We love you guys very much and pray the peace of Jesus during these trying times.
We just got the news of our friend Bro McGarvey's passing. Your family had such a wonderful impact on new converts James and KD Sword at Irvington Pentecostal Church. Bro McGarvey was always, always so prepared for his message to the flock. His deliverance was gentle most of the time as I remember, but his presence was mighty. We celebrate this mighty man of God and hold you all up in our prayers. Your friends forever, James and K.D. Sword Spring, Tx ksword@sbcglobal.net
We send our deepest sympathy to your family. We will remember Vernon for many things: for his smile, his deep love for his family (especially his grandchildren, Cooper and Heidi), love for his Heavenly Father and his compassion for all those he came in contact with.
May God bless all of you and we will remember you in prayer. He will be missed.
We send you love and prayers. Brother McGarvey was a great preacher and pastor and friend to the very end. We are looking forward to uniting with him in Heaven's Jubilee!
To our dear McGarvey family: Sis. McGarvey, Scott and Suzie, Johnathan and Jaime, Elder Dad McGarveys, Margie, and so many other wonderful people, please know that we feel your grief with you at Brother Vernon's passing on to his reward. While we grieve, he rejoices in his new body! Vernon McGarvey made an incredible impact upon so many people through his work on the Curriculum Committee and through his writing of Sunday school lessons. He was a brilliant scholar, gentleman, and friend to me. But most of all, he was a Christian beloved by so many. You all are in our prayers during this difficult season. God bless you, Reverend and Mrs. Richard M. Davis, Word Aflame Editor
A man of integrity and profound faith as seen that integrity rewarded and that faith become sight! We bid our friend farewell, and we promise our prayers to his family and church.
Praying for your family in this time of loss. We will forever rememeber Rev McGarvey for always his warm smile and hugs. His kind words. Most of all the love he had for his famly each and every one of you. And the love for his Heavenly Father. We know God was at the gate to meet him with open arms.
May God bless you all as we remember you in our prayers.
So glad God allowed me to work for Bro. McGarvey for two years in Houston, Tx at the Pentecostal Bookstore. He was a gentleman and a saint. Much love to Glynda and family.
I was just sent word of Bro McGarvey's passing. I am so sorry for your loss and will pray for you and your family during this time. Bro McGarvey's messages when he preached at Irvington Pentecostal Church, had such a huge impact on my life and for this I am eternally grateful. Bro. McGarvey was a gentle and sweet man of God and I am honored to have known him and his precious family.
So sorry for your loss, Glenda and family. Pastor McGarvey was a kind, wonderful man, who knew God and is with Him now. He will no longer have to go through any kind of hurt - for this, we are thankful. We are sending healing thoughts and prayers, and prayers for strength and comfort during this difficult time.
Bro. McGarvey had such an impact on my life. I remember well the years at IPC with him and Glenda. He will be missed but what a grand life he lead. Love and prayers, Carla Swindle
I love you and Bro. McGarvey, you both mean so much to us and I ALWAYS enjoyed hearing Bro. McGarvey preach and speak at IPC. He was so annointed and eloquent and the words just flowed from him. Without fail, my mom and I would come home from service after he spoke and exclaim over his wonderful command of the English language :-)) We will be praying for all of you. Bro. McGarvey will be greatly missed. God bless and keep you and may His Spirit and Peace comfort you.
With love and sympathy, Michelle (Bennick) Kuhtenia and family
So sorry for your loss. He was such a strong and courageous man. You were all blessed to have him in your lives and that video certainly provides strength for all during this difficult time. What a brave man. Take care of each other and God Bless you all.
Glenda, Jaime and families, Just learned yesterday at church that Bro. McGarvey was ill. After reading the previous comments I now know why I had such a burden for your family. Having been where you are with Rollie, Dad, Mom, and then Jim, I can say, I have walked where you are. There are times of heart pain, but THANKS BE TO GOD we know that all and Bro. McGarvey have had their perfect healing. We know that they are with Jesus that they loved so very much. OUR HOPE is in Him! Our prayers and love will continue to be for and with you in the days ahead. Love In Christ, Linda Lee of Columbia, MO; Benjamin Borden & family of Columbia, MO and Timothy Borden of Kansas City, MO.
McGarvey Family I will never forget the many opportunities and invitations Bro McGarvey extended to me when I was learning to preach. It seemed like every time I had an opening in my schedule (which was quite often I may add), I ended up going to Moberly - Not because he or the church needed me, but because I needed him . . . as an authoritative, Apostolic voice in my life! He was always so kind and encouraging. I am forever indebted and will always be grateful to the Lord for the part Bro McGarvey played in my ministry foundation years. His presence will be missed, but his influence will go on. Jonathan, Rebecca, Alayna, Bethany, and Hallie McClintock
He was my pastor, He was my friend, And though he’s gone, I know I’ll see him again.
He lived what he taught, He lived what he believed, And though he’s gone, He didn’t leave in defeat.
He followed his Savior, Jesus. He ran the race victoriously. He thrived under God’s grace, And to God’s love he had the key.
He loved people in their joy. He loved them through pain and sorrow. He taught them the skills to cope, And kept reminding them there’s hope for tomorrow.
We can be joyful even though we’re sad That his journey has come to an end. It’s okay for us to miss him, but we must stay strong, Because this man has gone home to heaven.
I just learned when the paper arrived at the library that "Papa" was in Heaven. I just don't understand why good people have to leave us, but God always knows best. I am thinking about all of you--especially my little special girl and friend, Jaime.
Sis. Glynnda McGarvey and family, We are so saddened by the news of Bro. McGarvey's death. Who would have ever known when we saw you just seven weeks ago. His message to the church was so touching and encouraging. We'll never again hear "Heaven's Jubilee" but what we will remember it as being his final shout of victory. Our love and prayers to all of you. Rev. & Mrs. Jack C. Garrison
