Dad just arrived back to his room while I was on the phone to Mom. I talked to Dad briefly and he said he was "feeling pretty rough". Mom met earlier with the surgeon who performed the procedure and who said he was very happy with the results. His impression was that the connecting tube was in such good shape that the stint was not necessary, however, because it was requested in light of the impending radiation therapy they went ahead with the insertion.
Mom had several visitors in the meantime including their neighbor Kyle Lawrence (who also sold them their Saturn Aura), as well as Willard Beaman, a hospital chaplian and friend of dad's and Pastors Larry Baitinger, Charles Cook & Jason Yancy. Lisa Huskey dropped off balloons... Bill Crabtree was walking in as I was hanging up.
Mom will have a laptop tomorrow when the STL crew shows back up, so she'll be able to add some commentary and catch up on all the comments you've left.
As it's past 2AM here, I'm crashing... Jaime may be able to update further this evening from YC09 in KC if there are any more details.
Thanks for all the prayers... it's helping more than you know.

What a surprise to hear that our long-time friend fell ill and had to have this unwanted interruption in a busy life. We are praying for you and love you very much. When this all passes, maybe you'll find some time to pack your bags and travel to the sunny South for some R & R!

"Blessed is the man that trusts in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is" (Jeremiah 17:7). You are blessed because I know you trust God, and you are in very good hands--His hands. Thinking of you and praying for you. May you feel God's strength and healing today.

Dear Vernon,
ReplyDeleteI was so shocked I could not even write. Listen, we went through the same thing four years ago with Sasha, so I know what it is all about. And you brought my memories back; even in the middle of the night, when I wake up, I think about you and everyone around you.
There is not much one can do except to listen what doctors have to say and do exactly that. They know the odds and they will recommend the right treatment.
Vernon, we'll be seeing you soon and in the meantime, take care!!
Love Jan and Sasha
Wish we could be there with you guys right now--we saw Jaime & Jonathan earlier tonight. 1,500 young people prayed for you guys tonight and I hope you feel the effects of the prayers.
ReplyDeleteWe love you guys very much.

We are praying for you all. God is able to see us through any storm in life. The boys send you happy thoughts. Josh is so concerned, he kept saying will he be okay? I told him God is a powerful God. You all hold a special place in our hearts. We love you all!
